Emerging technologies are also instrumental in enhancing experiences through AI, and Customer Experience (CX) innovations are crucial for creating more personalised and efficient interactions between governments and citizens.

Implementing an omnichannel strategy that ensures seamless communication across various platforms can significantly improve service delivery. This approach leads to higher satisfaction rates and fosters greater trust in public institutions. Governments focusing on CX in sectors like transportation, healthcare, and human services will substantially improve both outcomes and public perception.

He continues, “One of the most exciting developments is the potential of Generative AI (GenAI). It is estimated that the technology could bring up to $1.75 trillion in productivity gains to governments by 2033. This includes democratising access to information, creating hyper-personalised services, and analysing large volumes of data to assist in decision-making.”

GenAI can democratise access to information, allowing end-users to ask simple questions to retrieve all required information, breaking down data silos and removing information asymmetry. and integrating various existing public infrastructures. In contrast, private sector transformations are typically more targeted, driven by specific business objectives.”

The primary objective of digital transformation in the government is to enhance service delivery to the public, improve accessibility, and increase governmental efficiencies. These transformations have a broad societal impact, aiming to improve the quality of life for citizens. Moreover, engagement strategies in the government sector address a diverse range of communities and stakeholders with varying needs and access to technology. This requires robust, user-friendly, and accessible platforms and detailed analysis of the different personas involved.

On the other hand, in the private sector, the focus is usually on profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. The impact is more directly felt on the business’s bottom line and market position. As for engagement, the private sector can be more targeted, with digital tools and platforms designed to attract and retain a specific customer segment.

“At e& enterprise, we navigate these differences by tailoring our approach to each sector’s unique requirements and challenges, leveraging our deep technological expertise and sector-wide insights to drive successful transformations. Our goal is always to deliver solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also align with our customers’ strategic objectives and broader societal needs,” says Anglada.

It can create hyper-personalised services by leveraging the wealth of available data, such as in education, where lesson content can be tailored to a student’s skills built on cluster analysis. Additionally, GenAI can analyse large volumes of data by creating scores of autonomous agents trained on domain-specific data to work under human supervision. These agents would be equipped with rapid decision-making capabilities and capable of handling multiple scenarios.

These digital capabilities are also laying the groundwork for digital identities in government. This involves creating larger systems that manage user authentication, assign unique identifiers to individuals or organisations, and check the validity of credentials through methods like smartphone-based identity wallets. These systems improve security and make accessing services easier by using advanced techniques such as biometrics and two-factor authentication. Unique identifiers make it simpler to interact with various government departments, and credential verification confirms the authenticity of personal and professional documents. Smartphone-based identity wallets provide a secure and convenient way for people to manage and show their identities, leading to quicker and improved access to public services and better data privacy. Gartner forecasts that by 2026, at least 500 million smartphone users will use these digital wallets, backed by secure distributed ledger technology, to verify their claims.

Supporting Government digital transformation

Government transformation through digital initiatives has the potential to significantly enhance public service delivery, operational efficiency, and citizen satisfaction. Digital platforms make public services more accessible, integrating various services through unified platforms and reducing the need for physical interactions.

“Digital transformation makes public services more accessible to citizens,” says Anglada. “This reduces the need for physical travel and waiting times, making it easier for everyone, especially those in remote areas or with mobility challenges, to access services.”

Moreover, Anglada highlights the importance of transparency and engagement in government operations. “Digital platforms foster greater transparency, allowing people to track their requests and see how decisions are made. This builds trust and satisfaction. Additionally, features like feedback tools and social media integration facilitate a more responsive government that adjusts services based on real-time citizen feedback,” he says.

With a strong focus on digital government strategies, the UAE has made significant strides in integrating digital innovations across various facets of government functions with the aim of providing efficient services to its citizens.
